Lets have some official reports by Super-8 filmmakers recent experiences in getting their Super-8 film back from the lab.

Mention the Super-8 Film Stock you sent in, how you sent it in (mailers, in person, WalMart, etc), and who you sent it too. (Dewaynes, Pro 8mm, Yale, Kodak Switzerland)

How long did it take to get your film back?

If you had to call the lab with any questions, what was the customer service like?

If you want to mention what you paid per roll, that would be great, but please mention which Super-8 Film Stock you used.

And how was the quality of the processing in your opinion?

Hey Cheung, I was just in Hong Kong shooting some S8 the same week you sent off your film. I was there getting my visa renewed and shot a few rolls of negative. While I was there I looked around for K40 and Plus-x but never had any luck. Same with 16mm. I was told over & over that it would have to be ordered directly from Kodak, but I just couldn't believe that such a big film-making town like HK that it wasn't hiding somewhere. I'm back in Mainland China now but I may take a break from work at some point and go back to HK for a weekend. We should have lunch.

Oh I almost forgot, I dropped off some K40 at Camera Craft on Lankershim in N.Hollywood on a Monday --and got it back the very next Monday! Fuji picked it up and it went to their Arizona branch and then to Dwanes & back all in a week.
Yale film & video can get my B&W back to me by the next day after 5 or 5:30 p.m.
I feel bad for all these folks down under that wait for weeks.

    Hi,
I send my S8 K40 & R8 Cinechrome through Wal-Mart. Turnaround time is usually about ten days. I can't complain about the quality. I just got back a roll of K40 and it turned out really nice. Costs me $4.88 per roll. Don't send any B&W though (Plus X & Tri X). If you do they will send it back with a note saying they don't offer processing service for that type of film.

The last 8 carts of K40 sent via PK59 have averaged 16.3 days.

YALE -- Plux-X and Tri-X -- same day service if you drop it off before 11:30 and can pick it up by 5:30. Excellent, friendly customer service. Priority Mail will get it back to you within 2 days I've found (but maybe that's because I live so close).

PAC LAB - Same stocks, within a week. Good results. Never had to call them for anything.

FRANKLIN FILM LAB - Plus-X. Got the 3 rolls back three days after I sent it by UPS and had it sent back Priority Mail so they are fast as well. They didn't have leader on the reels and apologized for it by phone but ... still...that's kind of lame.

I think I prefer Yale's processing best. I just hope they never view my film before they send it back to me...

    Hi 8th man,
It was quite discouraging when i first picked up shooting super 8 three months ago. I try to buy raw stocks from kodak Hong Kong, they told me to ask Kodak US for help, Kodak US then told me to buy it online from their shop but the kodak shop only serve US customers !
For 16mm stock , one have to order directly from kodak, there are no shops selling them in Hong Kong.Last month I tried to order 16mm in daylight spool from Kodak but they refuse to sell me any unless I order 50 cans ! Poor hong Kong!
